Full Contest Rules

  1. Sponsor. The Sleeman Pick up the Tab Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Sleeman Breweries Ltd. (“Sponsor”), in partnership with The Guelph Community Foundation (www.guelphcf.ca). 
  2. Contest Period: The Contest will begin on September 29, 2023 and close on February 25, 2024 (“Contest Period”). 
  3. Entry Categories and Prizes.  There are 3 entry and Prize categories, as follows.
  4. Business: Largest aluminum tab collection by weight from a business, office or profit organization. Get your colleagues together, place collection containers in lunch rooms, receptions and for customers. Business Prize:  $2,000 donation to a registered Canadian charity of your choice; 2 Seats in the Sleeman Box at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game; 1 delegate to do the puck drop at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game.
  5. Non-profit: Largest aluminum tab collection by weight from a non-profit, service group or community group. Mobilize your group and win for charity. Non-profit Prize: $2,000 donation to a registered Canadian Charity of your choice; 2 Seats in the Sleeman Box at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game; 1 delegate to do the puck drop at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game.
  6. Individual or Pair: Largest aluminum tab collection by weight by an individual or pair. Start collecting amongst your family, friends, neighbourhood. Every tab counts and all your efforts will add up!  Individual or Pair Prize: $2000.00 donation to a registered Canadian Charity of your choice; 2 seats in the Sleeman Box at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game; 1 delegate to do the puck drop at the Guelph Storm March 1, 2024 game.
  7. How to Enter. No purchase necessary. Only aluminum can tabs! If it sticks to a magnet, it is not aluminum. Double check to avoid disappointment. Enter the Contest by dropping off your aluminum can tabs within the Contest Period at the address in Guelph or Elora, Ontario indicated on the Sleemanpickupthetab.ca Contest website (your “Tab Drop”) and completing and submitting the Tab Drop Entry Form to accompany your Tab Drop, indicating your entry category (Business; Non-profit; or Individual or Pair), contact name, contact information and charity of choice.  Each entry that complies with these Contest Rules (“Tab Drop Entry”).
  8. Ownership and use of tabs. All tabs submitted for the Contest become the property of the Elora Legion Branch 229 and will not be returned. All tabs submitted will go toward Tabs 4 Wheelchairs, Elora Legion Branch 229 to raise funds for wheelchairs, walkers and other assistive devices nationally in Canada (see www.eloralegion.ca). 
  9. Chances of Winning. Winners in each entry category (Business; Non-profit; or Individual or Pair) will be selected from the Tab Drop Entries with the largest tab collection by weight, in that entry category. In the event of a tie within a category, the winner will be the Tab Drop Entry made earliest. Chances of winning depend on the number and weight of Tab Drop Entries received in each category.
  10. Awarding Prizes. The largest Tab Drop by weight in each entry category will be determined on February 26, 2024. The person identified by the contact name and contact information for the Tab Drop Entry (“Contact Person”) in each category will be contacted by the Guelph Community Foundation within 3 days by phone or email and informed of the procedure to claim the prize. If the Contact Person cannot be reached within 3 days or refuses the Prize, that Tab Drop Entry will be disqualified, the second largest Tab Drop by weight in that category will be the new selected entrant, and the procedure for awarding prizes in this section will be followed for that Tab Drop Entry. Confirmed winners will be announced on the Sleemanpickupthetab.ca Contest website and the Pick up the Tab Facebook page. Prize money donations will be administered and granted by The Guelph Community Foundation.
  11. Acceptance of Prize. Each Prize will be provided to the Contact Person or his/her designate. In the event of a dispute as to which individual should receive: the Prize or any part of the Prize, or any communications regarding the administration of the Contest or awarding of the Prize, the Prize and any communications will be provided by default solely to the Contact Person. Each Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not subject to transfer, exchange or substitution for an award of cash or otherwise, except that the Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any the Prize, in whole or in part, for another prize of equivalent or greater value if any part of the Prize is not available for any reason whatsoever.
  12. Conditions. The Contest is open to residents of Ontario. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Contest is not open to: (a) employees, agents, or representatives of the Sponsor or The Guelph Community Foundation, and any of their respective: business, company, fiduciary or other legal entity controlled by or affiliated with them, promotional agencies (the “Contest Parties”); (b) the immediate family members (brothers, sisters, children, parents) or spouses of the foregoing, or any person with whom the foregoing are domiciled; or (c) provincial liquor licensees and their employees. The provincial liquor agency is not connected with this Contest in any manner whatsoever, and is not liable in any way whatsoever in regard to any matter which relates to this Contest.
  13. Contest Rules and Sponsor Decisions.  By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by the Contest Rules and decisions of the Sponsor, which are final. Under no circumstances will the Sponsor or The Guelph Community Foundation be required to distribute more Prizes than indicated in these Contest Rules.
  14.   By entering this Contest, entrants consent to the collection, use and disclosure of their personal information for the purposes of administering the Contest and in accordance with the Sponsor’s privacy policy available on the Contest website. By accepting a Prize, winners consent to the use and disclosure to the public of their company or organization (as applicable for Business or Non-profit entries) first name, statements about the Contest, and/or images for publicity purposes in connection with the Contest in any media or formats, without further notice, permission or compensation.
  15. Limitations of Liability.  The Contest Parties will not be liable for: a) any incomplete or inaccurate information, whether caused by Contest website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or used in the Contest, or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of entries; b) the theft, loss, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries or the Contest website; c) any problems with, or technical malfunctions of, telephone networks or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, viruses or bugs; d) any failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by or from the Sponsor or The Guelph Community Foundation for any reason; or (e) any use of the entrant’s personal information as set out in section 11.
  16. Indemnification. All contestants and all persons attempting to participate in the Contest hereby indemnify the Contest Parties against any damage or loss they may sustain in connection with their participation in, or attempt to participate in, the Contest, or use of the Prize.
  17. Right to Cancel, Suspend or Modify. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the Contest at any time, without notice, if a factor disrupts the proper conduct of the Contest, consistent with these Rules. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Contest in the case of error, particularly in production, distribution or printing, or the occurrence of any other event giving rise to claims exceeding the number of Prizes contemplated under these Rules. 
  18. Applicable Laws. These Contest rules are subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
