Every Tab Counts!
Do you know it takes about 2.4 million tabs to purchase a wheelchair? Imagine if we all picked up a tab, or two or more and put our collections together? We’re asking everyone to bring in their tab collections to the Sleeman Pick Up The Tab Guelph Storm game so that we can help the Elora Legion raise money for wheelchairs, walkers and assistive devices across Canada.
To up the game, we partnered with The Guelph Community Foundation to put on some exciting contests! Do you think you can pull together one of the largest tab collections to support Tabs 4 Wheelchairs? Decide your category below:
GRAND PRIZE
$2,000 donation to a registered non-profit Charity of your choice
- 4 Seats in the Sleeman Box at the Guelph Storm March 7th game.
- 1 delegate to do the puck drop at the Guelph Storm March 1st game.
RUNNER UP
$1,000 donation to a registered non-profit Charity of your choice
- 4 Seats in the Sleeman Box at the Guelph Storm March 7th game.
- 1 delegate to do the puck drop at the Guelph Storm March 1st game.
Here’s the details:

- Only Aluminum can tabs! If it sticks to a magnet, it is not aluminum. Double check to avoid disappointment.
- Prize money will be administered and granted by The Guelph Community Foundation. www.guelphcf.ca
- Collections for the contests are to be submitted by February 25, 2024. Drop off details to be announced.
- All tabs submitted for the contests become the property of the Elora Legion Branch 229 and will not be returned.
- All tabs submitted will go toward Tabs 4 Wheelchairs, Elora Legion Branch 229 to raise funds for wheelchairs, walkers and other assistive devices nationally in Canada. www.eloralegion.ca
2023/2024 Contest Update

A total of 626.61 lbs. of tabs were brought into the Elora Legion Branch 229 and the Sleeman Retail Store and Taproom as contest submissions. Between March 2023 and January 2024, a total of 118 lbs. of tabs were collected at the Guelph Storm office and the Sleeman Centre.

79.5 lbs. brought to the Legion.
Charity of choice: McMaster Children’s Hospital $2000.00 donation
Largest collection by a non-profit:
Westwood Public School are the reigning champs again!
138.5lbs brought to the Sleeman Retail Store.
Charity of choice: UGDSB Learning Foundation to be directed to Westwood Public School $2,000 donation
Largest collection by a business:
Pete’s Muffler & Automotive.
45.9 lbs brought to the Sleeman Retail Store.
Charity of choice: Special Olympics Guelph
